Devlog#17: Sustainability

This devblog is a copy / paste of my original devblog available for free on Patreon

Hey there, it's time for our monthly devlog, I've got a few news and a few things I want to talk about.

Patreon page:

This page is over 4 years old now, I remember creating it a few days, or was it weeks... Before Tales of Unity's 0.1 release.

With it I came and went through a wide variety of tiers, like the now discarded time mage tier, or some rewards that are no longer present or that have been changed.

Now that I'm back in the work mold, I need to modify my tiers to fit my new philosophy.

So, as most of you may know my projects come from purely a place of hobby, something I work on when I feel inspired and motivated.

I do want it to evolve from hobby project, to atleast something more "concrete".

As I mentioned countless time, Patreon is my SOLE source of income, now if I was living in Thailand, I'd be living pretty decently, but I live in France in the middle of a crippling inflation, I currently earn more or less 400€, the minimal wage here is more or less 1100€ / month.

I basically get the equivalent of a 10 hours a week fast food shift salary.

Now why am I saying this?

My point isn't really to beg for donations, I think that to get more patrons the solution is quite simple.

"Work, be more or less stable, and provide quality stuff!"

I mentioned before that updates would now come out after 3 month, leading to more or less 2 updates for each game per year for a total of 4 beefy updates.

Now that Patreon deleted goals for some reasons, I can no longer show what I plan to do.

Therefore I'll create most likely in the discord a goal tracker alongside an update to tiers.

You can check the updated tiers in the membership tab, most of the benefits didn't change, I did put more value in the Lower demon tier as I want it to feel a bit more interesting and to have it track a bit more people.

Tales of Unity

0.11 was released about a month back, time sure flies.

And I am currently writing 0.12's scenario, the next update will focus on Himia's character, her past and motivation, I want this update and 0.13 to be a bit more laid back, to focus on the player spending time with the girls.

I'll open a Patreon exclusive poll in a few days or hours to ask you what character you want to see in the coming update, for now works goes as it should, a Beta build for 0.12 should be out before December!

Project: Jericho

Now that 0.11 is out, I can focus my efforts on Project: Jericho's 0.1.

So far I'm a bit over 400 renders in (That's about twice the size of 0.11) and more or less 2800 lines of script.

Two animations are fully done out of 3, or 4 still not sure what I'm going with.

And my goal is to release it for mid october the latest.

Once 0.1 is out, I'll open character creation for Demon Lord and above for the game and in the same vein as ToU, an update for it should come out every 3 month more or less.

Keep an eye out for news as a lot is coming, especially if you're a patron.

Take care and I wish you a swell and comfy day

I'm not gonna lie, I don't remember seeing anything related to why you aren't in Thailand right now, but why DON'T you move there then? Is there something preventing you from doing so?

Technically, nothing

I could totally get a new passport, grab a plane ticket, find a comfy appartment and live there, but I'm not really too fond of well southern countries, not because of the culture but because of the climate, I like cold place, and I'm attached to Europe as a land honestly.

I do want to ditch France at one point, but I don't feel like I'm ready

Understood, but please keep in mind that if you cannot enjoy doing what you do because you don't make enough money to sustain yourself and your work procedures, you *may* have to do something you're not comfortable with to make it work, you know? I'm not a certified therapist nor counselor, but I can listen to your problems if you need to vent. :>
