Dev update 2022

[THIS POST IS A PUBLIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE FROM MY PATREON PAGE]

Hey there, and Merry christmas and happy new year to all of you, I'm a bit late I know, but hey better late than never.

This development update is a bit special as I'll talk about 2021 and everything that happened during that year alongside more infos about the future.

My current mindset

2021 was a pretty stable year with great heights in my growth and also really deep downs.

That is probably due to my inconsistant release schedule or something, but that's the kind of thing that happens when you work in that industry.

Unfortunatly I lost 3 of my highest pledgers within 3 month, which reduced my income by almost 50%, I'll be honest and straight, when I woke up this morning I thought that I would pass out, that's an insanely huge drop from what I'm used to, having the majority of your income held by a handfull of people is stressful, and when they all leave around the same time, you feel it even harder.

With this loss, I'm now unable to afford a complete month of groceries and I have to tighten my belt.

So in the coming weeks & month I'll value back the Demon Lord & Paragon tier by providing exclusive post directed to them announcements and potential build to the 2nd project, that's the current plan to encite people to pledge at the highest tiers again, these two tiers are founder tiers people that pledge to them deserve the most recognition and need to feel like their money goes not only as a donation, but as an investment.

So, while I feel a bit down right now due to the loss of these massive pledgers, I do have to keep my eyes up and look for ways to grow back.

Tales of Unity and it's inconsistancy

My first fear when I became a dev was that I would stop being consistant towards my project, unfortunatly, this revealed to be an half truth, while I still enjoy working on Tales of Unity, it's releases are getting more and more delayed despite a growth in it's quality.

I still feel like I can work more than I already do and by a long shot.

This delay is mostly due to my current IRL issues which I'll develop a bit below.

Somehow 0.10 Part 2 feels quite different from past updates in a good way, it feels like a genuine improvement in writing, render quality and overall vibe, and it's really on the verge of completion so while it's short I really want to see what you all think about it.

My Personnal Life

So, if you're unaware of my situation, I'm a 21 year old french guy, I live at my mother's which sprouts numerous issues related to work, I can't work as much as I want to often I've got to worry about the appartment that I share with my brother and sister, potential debts for my mother and so on.

Getting a personnal appartment would be Ideal but also not easy when I don't have a proper job or studying course, so I have to deal with it until I give up and get a job, get back to college or until Tales of Unity can be declared as a proper source of income for me to loan an appartment.

It's a stressful endeavor and a worry I have everyday, which I still hope will be resolved by the end of 2022.

This Page is my only source of income, I don't get any form of welfare, I don't get any salary beyond it, nor anything else, Hell I don't even have a proper access to healthcare yet, but I'm young so I suppose it's not that big of a deal yet.

Had to deal again with a lot of emotion related stuff most brought me down, others lifted me back on my feet, I suppose that's how things are you get down and get back up and you get to enjoy it until you get down again, that's just how it is and I'm fine with it as annoying as it is!

Going forward

If I can keep up with a proper monthly schedule Tales of Unity should approach completion in a year perhaps a bit more.

The way things are written in my head are really exciting, and I really REALLY want to put them ingame the way I imagine them as hard as it can be.

Then there's that secondary project which I always talk about so the main issue about devs starting a billion projects is that they all die.

That was my main fear with ToU, fortunatly I couldn't be more wrong, I enjoy working on both game as separate entities, afterall ToU happens in a potential fantasy driven modern timeline.

While that Project Happens on a dystopian future, and again as a way to value my highest tiers ONLY Demon Lord & Paragon tiers will have access to it until a proper public release which if everything goes fine will be a few updates before Tales of Unity's proper ending leading to a potential pilot build for that "Project" in a few weeks / month.

Conclusion

Well, that was a mouthful of text !

If you have any suggestion related to my projects or anything don't hesitate to contact me on Discord.

But it was important for me to get everything out of my system for this new year to start fresh.

I feel like a sellout and I hate it, but if you enjoy my work, please consider pledging even a single dollar helps me keep my stuff onboard and my motivation high!

Please, enjoy this new year with people you love, take care of yourself and I wish you the best for 2022 onwards.
